Online webinar on 'Collection and Recycling of Construction and Demolition Waste'

'Circular Waste Managementseries IV

On Thursday 17 February (14.00–15.30 CET), the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform will hold an online webinar on collection and recycling of construction and demolition waste.

Construction and demolition waste (CDW) accounts for more than a third of all waste generated in the EU. It contains a wide variety of materials such as concrete, bricks, wood, glass, metals and plastic. It includes all the waste produced by the construction and demolition of buildings and infrastructure, as well as road planning and maintenance. Technology for separation and recovery of construction and demolition waste is well established, readily accessible, and generally inexpensive. Despite its potential, the level of recycling and material recovery of C&D waste varies greatly across the EU, ranging from less than 10% to over 90%.

This webinar will present municipalities and regions with examples of solutions addressing the challenges of collection and recycling of CDW. Three good practices will be presented to which local and regional authorities can refer for enhancing their CDW collection, prevention and recycling rates in compliance with the EU Directives and in line with the principles of circular economy. The webinar will close with an interactive panel discussion on the presented topics.

The agenda outline and registration form can be accessed at the event webpage.
